FWD Group has appointed Martin Zingg as a non-executive director to its board of directors, effective immediately. He also becomes a member of the board’s audit and risk committees.

With the appointment, announced at the insurer’s annual general meeting on Friday ( May 29 ), the board now comprises 14 directors: nine independent non-executive directors, three non-executive directors, and two executive directors.

Welcoming Zingg’s appointment, board chairman Frederick Ma says: “A key element of our strategy is focused on partnering with multiple world-class investment managers to ensure that we can best serve the unique needs of our policyholders. Martin is uniquely positioned to further strengthen the depth and diversity of experience on the board, in support of our vision of changing the way people feel about insurance.”

Zingg serves as group head of corporate development and strategic investments at Swiss Re. He leads Swiss Re's corporate development agenda, including control transactions, minority participations, and private debt investments.

Prior to his current role, Zingg held various senior positions at Swiss Re in investment management and corporate development across the United States, Europe, and Asia, for more than two decades. He also served for more than five years as group chief investment officer at Catlin Group, an international specialty and property/casualty insurer and reinsurer.
